A Rocky Mountain goat kid died unexpectedly at the Denver Zoo Saturday, the second goat to die at the zoo in about a four-month span.Salix, who was born at the zoo on May 30, was found by animal care specialists on Friday “behaving abnormally with a repetitive chewing motion and lethargy, and he was less responsive to his care team,” zoo officials said in a statement. After a veterinary assessment, a “supportive treatment” was undertaken, but Salix did not respond and later died. A postmortem exam was conducted but initial findings were inconclusive. A variety of disease screening tests will be conducted to “better understand what happened to Salix,” according to the zoo.We are devastated to share that Salix, our Rocky Mountain goat kid, unexpectedly passed away on July 22. Published Sat, 22 Feb 2025 04:08:18 GMT

By Aisha Counts and Jesse Levine, BloombergIt’s rare for corporate brands to become so intertwined with everyday conversation that they become verbs. It’s rarer still for the owner of such a brand to announce plans to intentionally destroy it.On Sunday, in the middle of a quiet summer weekend, Elon Musk decreed that Twitter’s product name would be changed to “X,” and that he is getting rid of the bird logo and all the associated words, including “tweet.” Musk’s move wiped out anywhere between $4 billion and $20 billion in value, according to analysts and brand agencies.“It took 15-plus years to earn that much equity worldwide, so losing Twitter as a brand name is a significant financial hit,” said Steve Susi, director of brand communication at Siegel & Gale.Musk, whose company has already declined significantly in value since he purchased it for $44 billion in October, announced the change on Saturday night. By Monday morning a new black “X” logo, designed by a fan over the week...

Biden impeachment inquiry? House speaker floats the possibility

By LISA MASCARO (AP Congressional Correspondent)WASHINGTON (AP) — House Speaker Kevin McCarthy says Republican lawmakers may consider an impeachment inquiry of President Joe Biden over unproven claims of financial misconduct, responding to enormous GOP pressure to demonstrate support for Donald Trump ahead of the 2024 presidential election.Speaking Tuesday at the Capitol, McCarthy said the questions House Republicans are raising about the Biden family finances need to be investigated. Such a probe could be as lengthy or swift as the House determines, potentially stretching into campaign season. “We will follow this to the end,” he said, first floating the idea late Monday on Fox N...
